The Southern Melbourne Children and Youth Area Partnership aims to ensure all children and young people in our region can live safe from harm and have every opportunity to live happy, healthy and successful lives. We work across three local government areas:
- Cardinia Shire Council
- Casey City Council
- Greater Dandenong City Council.
We are part of a Victorian whole-of-government collective impact initiative, a partnership with government, services and the community to work better together to support our vulnerable children and young people, and their families.
Who is involved
Our Area Partnership has a leadership group of cross-sector leaders from government (Victoria and local), health, education and community. The leadership group meets regularly to discuss the learnings from the work to date, to determine strategic opportunities and to identify measures that will help us meet our targets.
Our Principal Advisor is Erin Armstrong.
Our Co-Chairs are:
- Jenny Litsas, Acting Area Director, Southern Melbourne, Department of Health and Human Services
- Debbie Locco, Area Executive Director, Southern Melbourne, Department of Education and Training
Working groups are leading specific areas of work, and community forums are held to engage wider participation of services, local community groups and others who are interested in being part of our work.
The Southern Melbourne Children and Youth Area Partnership operates across the land of the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung/Bunurong people.
We acknowledge their Elders past and present and their continuing connection to their Country. We acknowledge the important place of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who live in our area as the first people of Australia. We are proud to welcome people from all cultural, religious and language backgrounds as part of our community.
