Understanding the impact of trauma
The Southern Melbourne Area Partnership has hosted a forum for schools, child protection and out-of-home care agencies to build awareness of the impact of trauma.
The Out-of-Home Care Education Commitment forum participants watch ReMoved, a powerful short film that gives some insight from the perspective of the child who has experienced and witnessed maltreatment, and their journey in life after the experience.
The Department of Education and Training and Department of Health and Human Services Out-of-Home Care Partnering Agreement Group is looking at feedback from the forum to inform what strategies can be put in place to ensure school-aged children in care are engaged and benefitting from education.
Please note that you might find this film confronting. This video contains depictions of family violence and may be disturbing to some viewers.
If you are experiencing domestic or family violence you can seek support by contacting the National Domestic Violence Service on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). If you are in immediate danger call triple zero (000).
